One misfortune does not leave, but leads to another. This folk wisdom has come true to the fullest. Ukraine has not yet overcome the coronavirus, when it suffered a much more terrible disaster. A war came to a peaceful country, cruel and bloody. But our Hesed is again at the forefront of humanitarian work.
What are we doing these days! We are importing food, completing rations, volunteering, including in city organizations. For example, yesterday the employees of our volunteer center helped prepare pastries for territorial defense in one of the school cafeterias, today they are purchasing necessary things for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Members of the Jewish community are also signing up and working in territorial defense. Employees of all regional branches of Hesed weave camouflage nets, donate blood and even accept refugees. Although not on a mass scale, we have already encountered this unfortunate phenomenon…
So far, our city is more or less calm. Sirens are sounding, but the fighting, fortunately, has not reached us. We keep our fists together and pray for those men and women who are heroically holding the defense. We have high fighting spirit. We understand: we have community members behind us, mainly defenseless elderly people. We must be strong for ourselves and for them.
Ukraine will win! Truth and God are behind us!
