Our "Glorious Regiment"

"The Glorious Regiment is preparing for the parade"

For the Victory Day, the Khmelnytskyi Charitable Foundation "Hesed Besht" has prepared a solemn procession of remembrance with photographs of front-line soldiers. For this purpose, we asked the descendants of former war participants to provide photographs of their heroic ancestors. It is the children and grandchildren who will carry the photographs in the solemn procession during the requiem rally near the Eternal Flame memorial.

The photographs went through a difficult transformation before they appeared on people. The Foundation's employees received old photographs, which in some places had already suffered the destructive effects of time, had defects on the photo paper. But skilled hands and modern technology managed to improve the quality of the photographs, transforming them from pocket photographs into large A4-format portraits. The images were also given a uniform appearance and color scheme.

The media on which the photos were mounted were also made independently. They were given the appearance of burnt stone, which added emotional color. Up to ten managers worked on the creation of the "Glorious Regiment", as the Foundation employees have already managed to name the selection of photos.

The main idea of the march was to honor the memory of the heroes with the help of their descendants. Carrying a photo of their predecessor, who fought against fascism, winning Victory, to the entire free world is a great honor for them. Now the main thing is that Victory Day passes peacefully and without provocations, which, unfortunately, our society is so rich in now. The march itself will take place together with representatives of the Polish community, which testifies to the unity and friendship of different nationalities of the Khmelnytskyi region.

After the event, the photos will remain on display at the Holocaust Memorial Museum in the Thiya Community Center. We hope that next year, and especially next year, the “Glorious Regiment” will be replenished with photos of front-line soldiers, because no one is forgotten, nothing is forgotten!
