On November 28, 2015, at the Rehabilitation Center "School of Health" at the Hesed Besht Children's Charity Foundation, a meeting of the women's group "Project Kesher" was held as part of the "16 Days Against Violence" campaign. It was dedicated to the holiday of Hanukkah and 14 women took part in the event. The main goal of the meeting was to determine the role of women in the holiday of light, goodness and faith. Methodological developments of the PC were used in preparation for the event.
The lesson began with a video about the history of Hanukkah in the technique of pisography. Then we remembered the stories of women associated with Hanukkah, who took on incredible decisions. The stories of women's resistance to violence during Hanukkah tell of the readiness of women of that period to sacrifice themselves for the sake of a common goal, the readiness to see the death of their children and to die themselves, but only so as not to violate the laws that do not violate the foundations of the Jewish faith.
Then we read the parable “While the candle is burning” and discussed the information we received. While we are alive – while the candle is burning – we can still fix something, we can change this terrible world for the better thanks to our deeds. With our good deeds, we need to light a new candle every day, awakening more light in our souls. And we all lit the “equality” candle, which during the days of Hanukkah will be a reminder that every person has “their right”, with these “equality” candles we emphasized the equal importance of the role of women in Jewish history, on the one hand, and the importance of the role of women in modern history, on the other.
And at the end of the meeting, Andriy Makarevich's hit "While the Candle Burns" sounded. While we are alive, we can change this world for the better, we can change ourselves, we can be happy!
