On the occasion of the Victory and Tolerance holiday, the Khmelnytskyi Charitable Foundation “Hesed Besht” made a symbolic gift to people who defended their land on the fronts during World War II. The respected veterans were invited to the stylized Jewish establishment “Restaurant at Spiegel's”, where people could chat, relax and have a treat in a pleasant homely atmosphere. Manager Natalia Gerasimenko prepared a calm program for an even better and warmer meeting.
At lunchtime, the elderly former defenders gathered together. The key topic of conversation today was not the war, but the importance of transmitting information about it to future generations. Our veterans are frequent guests of various educational institutions, which traditionally invite veterans to communicate with young people. Each of the former soldiers already has a long track record of such visits, so they would like to share their impressions and achievements in this area. Nataliya Leonidivna emphasized to the veterans that their contribution to the education of future generations is extremely great. First of all, to support the healthy patriotic spirit that they were filled with in their time. On the topic, a song by the famous Jewish musician O. Rosenbaum was performed for the audience. In addition, the veterans shared their own (and borrowed) lyrics in verse form with each other. The experiences they had given many of them a creative impetus, which was put on paper in the form of poems that brought tears to their eyes.
At the end of the meeting, V. Kikabidze's song "My Jews" was played (listen here). My Jews musicmegabox.net), which summed up the entire beautiful and moving event. Ahead is the celebration of the end of the war, the laying of flowers and the commemoration of the dead. But now it is important to honor the exploits of living people, like our veterans, and the Hesed Besht Charity Foundation does this with gratitude and awe.
