Khmelnytskyi Charitable Foundation "Hesed Besht" cooperates with international organizations, implementing various projects for clients and community members. Our reliable partner is an organization that has been supporting the implementation of educational projects in small communities for many years, called the L. A. Pincus Foundation (The LA Pincus Fund for Jewish Education in the Diaspora). Joint activities are carried out throughout the territory of Khmelnytskyi and Ternopil regions. On May 13, the interregional seminar “Gmilut Hasadim (“good deeds”, – Hebrew) was held at the “Thia” Community Center. My personal Tzdaka” for representatives of the Polonska and Slavutska Jewish communities. We remind you that recently similar event was held in our OC for representatives of other communities in the region. The main topic of the seminar was Tzadak. In various manifestations, this commandment is an integral part of the Jewish people. Thanks to charity, as many are accustomed to perceiving this concept, communities exist and are being built in the Diaspora and, in fact, in Israel. In fact, the term “Tzadak” means “justice,” as was recalled at the seminar, and this is the main thing in the formation of a community: everyone should think about their neighbor and fairly share their opportunities with those who experience some hardship.
The seminar program included an interactive discussion using the multimedia capabilities of the conference hall of the “Thia” Center, a master class on making personal Tzdak boxes, and a movie screening. At the opening of the seminar, the guests were told about the capabilities of the Hesed Besht Foundation website, which is important for residents of remote regions. Those present were interested in various news from Khmelnytskyi, but the main question was: “When will we have a new Hesed building?” Future Rehabilitation and Regional Development Center, which is being built at 40/2 Shevchenko Street, is needed not only in our city, but also in the entire region, as it will be able to meet the needs of clients from the entire service area of the Hesed Besht Central Bank.
The event's rich program kept both adults and children entertained. While the adults were talking about Tzdaka, our young guests were drawing, creating, and figuring out what kind of Jewish mother she was. All their thoughts on this subject were noted down and read out to the general public at the end of the meeting. The collective image of a Jewish mother turned out to be wonderful, and individual mothers in the audience clearly understood which of the characteristics their children had invested in her.
Thus, today's seminar brought together even more representatives of different communities through informal education on timeless topics. We hope that the L. A. Pincus Foundation will continue to support such initiatives in our community, as they are very necessary for our people.
