The melodious and rich Ukrainian language enchants with its richness even those who have not heard or spoken it since childhood. And for native speakers, it is a good tool not only for everyday communication, but also for art and literature. The Khmelnytskyi Charitable Foundation “Hesed Besht”, which upholds the principles of studying the native language of our ancestors, Yiddish, fully understands what Mother Tongue Day means for the nation. Therefore, on the Day of Ukrainian Language and Writing, our clients gladly joined various festive events. And in the Day Development Center, which was on a trip to the RC “School of Health” in the village of Pecheski, they organized their own holiday.
On November 9, representatives of the Khmelnytskyi Regional Universal Scientific Library “Hesed Besht” were invited to the Khmelnytskyi Regional Universal Scientific Library for an evening of language and writing. Talented schoolchildren and students gathered here to present their own work in Ukrainian. It is pleasant to note that among the young artists there were also representatives of the Jewish community. Librarian of the “Thiya” Cultural Center Iryna Nima congratulated the children and cultural workers on the holiday and wished them inspiration in the future.
People of respectable age from the Day Development Center celebrated this day in their own way. During the away meeting, Ukrainian poems and prose were recited, videos were watched, and even songs were sung. Svitlana Mykhailivna Itkina, as a former Ukrainian language teacher, prepared an interesting program using both past literary works and the works of contemporaries. Here is a fragment from her story.
