Purim Carnival
Purim. Of all the Jewish holidays, it is especially bright and cheerful, so it is equally popular with adults and children. As part of the "Tolerance" project, we introduce our holidays to the non-Jewish population, and see what a joyful response they find in people's souls.
Students of the Faculty of Preschool Education of the Khmelnytsky Humanitarian and Pedagogical Academy (KHPA), members of the folk amateur collective “Podilsky Musicians” know a lot about different national cultures, they sing Ukrainian, Belarusian, Polish and Jewish songs with inspiration. The beauty, depth and unique color of national cultures were revealed to them by the senior lecturer of the Faculty of Arts of the Academy Sofia Paziy and the lecturer of the same faculty, concertmaster Oleksiy Radetsky. They created a wonderful ensemble that has been delighting the audience for many years, giving them a consistently good mood. It is worth noting that special support and assistance to the collective and its organizers are provided by the rector of the academy Inna Mykhailivna Shorobura and the dean of the Faculty of Preschool Education Leonida Stanislavivna Pisotska.
The other day, students of the KhGPA sang Jewish songs at our Hesed Besht Foundation in honor of the holiday of Purim. They came in various carnival costumes, as the tradition of the holiday requires, learned a lot about the history of the origin of Purim, about its four commandments, and performed one of them – “banquet and treats.” They especially liked “Haman’s ears” – traditional Purim triangular cakes with poppy seeds.
The students will soon become teachers. Having a wealth of knowledge about different national cultures in Ukraine, having learned a good example of tolerant relationships, they will, of course, carry their knowledge further, will implement it in the practice of their work. Look, and the world will become a better place.
