Trip to Medzhibozh
On March 31, the wards of the "Hesed Besht" charitable foundation went on an excursion to Medzhibozh. This is an old settlement in the territory of the Khmelnytskyi region, which has a very rich history. First of all, Medzhibozh is known for the fact that for centuries Jewish communities existed there, in which people lived, whose deeds influenced the Jewish thought of all of Eastern Europe.
Upon arrival, everyone visited the Jewish cemetery where the Baal Shem Tov tzaddik was buried. This place is very important for Hasids from all over the world, because it was thanks to him that the teaching of Hasidism was formed and gained a high influence in the Jewish life of that time.
After visiting a modern functioning synagogue, everyone went to honor the memory of the victims who died under the Nazi regime. More than 3,000 innocent people, including old men, women and children, were shot. After reading the prayer, each person honored the memory of the victims in his heart, and by offering stones to the mass graves, he testified to the memory of those who died in such difficult times for the entire Jewish people.
The final feature of this trip was a visit to the old synagogue, built on the initiative of the Baal Shem Tov. Despite its considerable age, it is in good condition and is functional, having the opportunity to hold a prayer, which the participants of the trip did not miss.
