The future is shotnot
No matter how far time may distance us from the events of World War II, the Jewish people will always remember their greatest tragedy – the Holocaust. In June, 77 years ago, a terrible massacre of the peaceful Jewish population in Lyakhivtsy (now Bilogirya) took place, when more than 3,400 Jews from Lyakhovtsy, Yampol, and Kornytsia were shot. On June 26, 2019, a rally-requiem was held at the site of the execution in the Tudyn tract near the village of Trostyanka in memory of the innocently destroyed.
The rally was organized by the Bilogorsk United Territorial Community, and everything was done at a very high level. It was felt that this sacred and infinitely noble cause was done not for the sake of a checkmark, but with soul and sincere sympathy. There were speeches, laying flowers and lamps at the obelisk, mournful songs and poems, and a theatrical production caused pain and sorrow.
The Khmelnytskyi Charitable Foundation "Hesed Besht" also took an active part in holding this sad event. Participants in the project "Jewish Revival. Lessons of Historical Truth" honored the memory of the fallen, prepared two performances, two mournful songs in Yiddish. A memorial prayer was read near the mass grave. This is especially important, because there are no Jews left in Bilogirya who could visit here and pray for the repose of the souls of the fallen.
A shot future – that’s what you can say about the Holocaust in a nutshell. And it’s completely true. Because if there hadn’t been that bloody drama in the life of the Jewish people, our world would be much better…
