Trip to the shrines of Medzhyborz

September 22, 1942 is one of the most tragic dates in the history of Medzhybozh. It was on that day that German fascists shot more than three thousand Jews of the Medzhybozh ghetto in a ravine outside the village. Traditionally, employees and clients of the Hesed Besht Jewish Community Foundation visit the Medzhybozh mass graves every year in September. This year was no exception: we went there in a large comfortable bus thanks to our sponsor, businessman Yefim Goldberg. Near the monument, in the presence of a prayer group, Rabbi Yosef Teitelbaum of the Khmelnytskyi Jewish community read a memorial prayer, and those present honored the bright memory of the innocently fallen by placing pebbles on the graves and lighting lamps.

On the occasion of the cycle of autumn Jewish holidays and mourning dates (Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Sukkot), we visited the grave of Rabbi Baal Shem Tov, left notes with secret requests. We honored the graves of his followers and visited other shrines - the old and new synagogues, the ancient Jewish cemetery, the mikvah. Holy places give strength, strengthen faith. That is why there are so many pilgrims from different parts of the world in Medzhibozh these days.
