Khmelnytskyi region is a tolerant region. According to the results of the All-Ukrainian Census of 2001, representatives of 90 nationalities and ethnicities live in our region. These are mainly Ukrainians, Russians, Poles, Jews, Belarusians, Moldovans, Romanians, Armenians. Slightly smaller in number are the ethnic groups of Azerbaijanis, Hungarians, Germans, Bulgarians, Georgians, Czechs, and Roma. In good times, there are no interethnic conflicts.
On the contrary, educational organizations are concerned with strengthening tolerant relations between representatives of different national communities. Thus, on February 20 and 21, as part of the celebration of the Day of the Mother Language, interesting events were held in the regional scientific universal library and the regional children's library named after T. Shevchenko: national communities talked about their native language and presented their culture. Managers of the Hesed Besht Children's Library Halyna Skrypnyk and Halyna Hilberg also visited these events, and, as they say, not empty-handed. They talked about the Jewish languages Yiddish and Hebrew, and presented a piece of Jewish culture. And they were helped in this by the volunteer folk amateur collective “Podilski muzyki” of the Khmelnytskyi Humanitarian and Pedagogical Academy, artistic director – Sofia Paziy, concertmaster – Oleksiy Radetsky.
