When the Torah was given!

Hag Shavuot Sameach is a traditional greeting today throughout the Jewish world. On the fiftieth day after the exodus of the Jewish people from Egypt, on Mount Sinai, the Almighty gave Moses two tablets with the Ten Commandments, which today are directly or indirectly respected by most of the world's population. The Khmelnytskyi Charitable Foundation "Hesed Besht" arranged a real holiday for its clients with traditional treats and a festive program from the vocal group "ART-Sound" in the Khmelnytskyi Regional Scientific and Methodological Cultural Center.

Shavuot, in addition to the giving of the Torah, is associated with a rich set of dairy treats for most people. Milk and dairy products are indeed revered on this day, but we should not forget that this holiday, like some other Jewish holidays, is celebrated at a time of transitional seasons. Right now, a new crop is ripening in the Holy Land, so during the Temple period, Jews baked two challahs from the grain of the new harvest and offered them as a sacrifice. Another type of sacrifice could be fresh fruit, which is also ripening right now.

Today, the premises of the Khmelnytsky Regional Scientific and Methodological Cultural Center were very crowded. The majority of those present were clients of the Foundation and members of the Jewish community, but the doors of the institution were open to all comers. The Director of the Khmelnytskyi Hesed Besht Foundation and the Chairman of the Board of the Khmelnytskyi Jewish Religious Community, Ihor Ratushny, delivered a welcoming speech. He noted that today's holiday is relevant for all people, since the observance by each person of only ten Commandments (for Jews, there are many more commandments) is capable of changing the world for the better.

The guests of the auditorium were given an extraordinary mood by the vocal group of teachers of the Khmelnytskyi Children's School of Arts “ART-Sound” under the direction of Igor Boyko. The artists performed a selection of songs in different languages and even promised to learn a composition in Hebrew or Yiddish by the next meeting.

After the solemn part, which was conducted by Public Relations Manager Lyudmila Shvartsman, a festive dairy buffet awaited all guests. Here one could taste several types of cheese, flour products and nutritious and healthy yogurt. The delicacies were enjoyed by both adults and children, who came to the holiday with their parents to study the traditions of their people.
