The preparations are behind us, and now the Jewish community is enjoying the celebration of one of the greatest Jewish holidays, which is always associated with spring, liberation, and the joy of overcoming obstacles. Passover came at a difficult time, so the general atmosphere was useful to each of us. The Khmelnytskyi Charitable Foundation “Hesed Besht” made every effort to ensure that Jewish families had matzah on their tables, so that community members could meet together and celebrate the liberation of our ancestors from slavery.
Traditional Seders are held at the Thiya Community Center. It is impossible to invite everyone to the holiday at once, but during the eight days of the holiday, a large part of the Jewish community will visit the Center. A separate Seder was also organized for the Foundation's youngest clients. The Social Assistance Center and the Nutrition Program provided all guests with traditional dishes, so the Passover table fully corresponded to the traditions of the holiday.
The first Seder on April 14 was attended by many journalists from local TV channels and newspapers. Interest in Jewish holidays in society has grown significantly, which indicates the favorable situation of national minorities in the region. It is worth noting that before Passover, the Foundation's employees Olga Nikitnina and Dmitry Kornitsky were invited to record the program "Morning in Podillia" and a radio program about the life of the region, in order to highlight the features of the Jewish holiday to the general public. You can view the reports and video stories at the links below.
The Community Center staff worked for all the guests, diversifying the program after the Seder with various interesting facts and informative historical facts. After the first two days of the holiday, students from the Child Development Center and the "Madrich School" were invited to the Seder. In their youth company, they recalled the history of Pesach and looked with interest at the kiara full of dishes, which is stored in the Museum of Jewish Life and ceases to be an exhibit only on Pesach.
There are still five days ahead, during which the Community Center will be visited by a large number of guests. They will all be happy to wish them "Hag Pesach Sameach!" and be treated to matzo. After all, for many of them, the Community Center has become almost another home, where they always want to come.
