Trip to Medzhibozh

The war At this word you involuntarily shudder. It touched everyone, but it resonates with special pain in the soul of every Jew.

Traditionally, on September days, representatives of the public and clients of BF "Hesed Besht" visit the places of mass destruction and burial of innocently killed residents of Medzhibozh. More than 3,000 Jews - men and women, old men and children - were mercilessly exterminated on September 22, 1942.For some, this trip was very personal. Like, say, for Oleg Schneider, who had nine relatives on his father's line shot in Medzhibozh. It is impossible to hold back tears when you imagine this apocalyptic spectacle. The soul especially aches when you approach a child's grave...

A memorial prayer was recited near the monument, which was read by "Heseda" manager Vyacheslav Yulle and volunteer Semen Milman. Small stones are traditionally placed on graves. Flowers wither and become ugly, but stones are eternal. Our memory of the killed is also eternal.

The trip took place on the eve of the holiday of Sukkot, when Hasids from all over the world come to Medzhiboz to worship the grave of the great righteous man, the founder of the teachings of Hasidism, the Baal Shem Tov. "Heseda" wards also paid tribute to their famous compatriot, traditionally dropping notes with requests in a specially designated place. We also visited the synagogue.

In the Jewish quarter of Medzhibozh, on the eve of the holiday, a spacious sukkah - a hut - was erected, in which the Jews will glorify God for seven days, eat, sing and have fun, as tradition dictates.
