Khmelnytskyi Charitable Foundation “Hesed Besht” sincerely congratulates everyone on the holiday of Tu B’Shevat – the New Year of Trees! On the days when it is customary to plant gardens, delighting with the taste of the gifts of the vine, namely varieties of white, red wine and their combinations, a special event dedicated to the holiday was held for the clients of our Foundation. They creatively approached the issue of planting a tree, not leaving this tradition without attention even due to the lack of the opportunity to plant a real tree.
At the Thiya Community Center, customers and guests of the holiday were greeted by its employees, each in their own way. The host of the event, Public Relations Manager Lyudmila Shvartsman, spoke about the traditions of this “new year”, treated those who came with aromatic wine. Juicy oranges and shiny grapefruits adorned the tables, raisins and all kinds of jam were served in separate plates - delicious and healthy products that nature has given us.
Of course, the entire program of the meeting was built on stories about trees, flowers and all kinds of plants. Two short films were shown to the guests: “About Flowers” and “Flowering Trees”. The “Guess the Flower” and “Guess the Melody” competitions were also held. The latter offered the participants famous songs about flowers and trees, of which, as it turned out, there were quite a few.
A colorful performance with a scene from the life of a Jewish matchmaker, called "Shadchen", was demonstrated by our volunteer, talented actress Ella Prikolotina. In her performance, the scene looked so realistic that the hall simply exploded with applause. And although the performance was in no way connected with flowers, there is no doubt - Ellochka blossomed on the improvised stage, like a rose!
And, of course, there was no lack of planting a tree. Everyone present was able to take part in its “planting”. Guests could model a leaf for this tree from colored paper and write their wishes for all visitors to the Civic Center this year! Now this tree “grows” in the organization’s lobby and can get new leaves if someone wants to add them.
The “Salvia” needlework club also dealt with gardening and floristry that day. And also in an original way: under the guidance of Tamara Kitsak, roses could be made from foil and construction tape. But the beauty is indescribable.
This is how Tu B'Shevat was celebrated in our community. Events related to the holiday are still waiting for the students of the Day Development Center, but that's a completely different story...
