Khmelnytskyi Charitable Foundation “Hesed Besht” annually joins the celebration of Shevchenko Days. Poems and poems known from childhood are close to many of our people. And the rebellious mood of the fighter for justice and his people is close in meaning to the life position of the entire long-suffering Jewish people. Shevchenko readings took place in advance, since the calendar days fall on the preparation for the holiday of Purim. The readings took place in the conference room of the “Thia” Community Center. Host Natalia Gerasimenko and volunteer Leonid Zapadenko not only prepared the reading materials, but also created a pleasant atmosphere. Ukrainian motifs dominated both in the design of the book exhibition and even in the host’s clothes.
The event was not quite usual. Many are accustomed to the work of Taras Hryhorovych, which is distinguished by despair, tragedy and gloomy tones. The very figure of the “bronzed” Kobzar is associated with several poems and the “Testament”… But this is not at all the case. Shevchenko is first and foremost a person who knows how to laugh and rejoice, he is a deep lyricist and singer of love. It was these aspects that the organizers tried to touch upon in this year's readings.
And a vivid illustration of the versatility of Taras Hryhorovych's work was the presentation of his works in unconventional arrangements. Selected videos showed that his poems can be performed to tango music and saxophone. And Shevchenko's rap of the poem "Dream" simply pleasantly puzzled those present, since no one expected that the Kobzar could be so organically modern.
It is in the search for new, non-standard ways of working with clients that our Community Center is distinguished from other cultural organizations. We strive for our clients and the entire society to bring more goodness and more beauty into this world!
