Tu-Bishvat is the new time of trees in the Jewish calendar. Ego is celebrated on the 15th day of Shvat (January - February). On January 23, Tu-Bishfat was held in the community center "Thiya" with the support of the women's project "Kesher". The organizer of the celebration was Galina Atamanchuk.
The evening began with an interesting introduction in the form of the game "Which tree do I associate myself with" and a story about the origin of the holiday and the traditions that accompany it throughout the centuries. Tu-Bishvat is a relatively young holiday that originated 4 centuries ago. It is believed that the entire harvest after Tu bi Shvat will be carried over to the next year. The main tradition on this day is eating fruit, symbolizing our participation in the new year of trees.
In the community center "Thiya" the holiday was held in observance of the main traditions. The most interesting was the one about wine. The guests were offered four glasses of wine: the first was filled with white wine, the second – white with a few drops of red, the third – red wine, and the fourth – completely red, which symbolizes the arrival of spring and warmth to replace winter and cold. Red wine is a symbol of human awakening and life.
Among other things, the members of the women's group enjoyed reading the sayings of the Jewish sages about trees.
Since the event fell on a Friday, the evening traditionally ended with a Shabbat meeting. The women lit candles together and thanked God.
The songs performed by Anatoly Muzyka and Halyna Atamanchuk brought even more emotional warmth and comfort to those present.
