Traditionally, on Yom HaShoah \u2013 Holocaust Remembrance Day, a national day of mourning in Israel \u2013 life in the Holy Land comes to a standstill for two minutes. At 10 am, a siren sounds across the country, and residents pay tribute to the victims in silence. Regardless of whether they are walking down the street, riding a bus or car, at work or at home, they will stop, get out of their vehicles and stand for as long as the siren sounds. Even if they are traveling on a train between settlements and the siren is not heard, the driver will stop the train at the appointed time, everyone will rise from their seats, and stand as a sign of honoring the bright memory of the victims of the Holocaust.<\/p>\n
