Against the backdrop of the situation in the country, the grief of an individual person often fades into the background, but not in our community. For a long time we did not publish this material at the request of its main participant, but now the story of our brother can already be made public. The whole country knows about Oleksandr Abayev, who was injured during the shooting of demonstrators on February 18-20 in Kyiv. We will tell this story again, because we are proud of this guy and his deed!<\/p>\n

"Sashko was always an activist of the youth club of the Hesed Besht Youth Federation. Everyone knew about his explosive temperament, his thirst for adventure and speed, his lack of fear and justice. When the youth of our club decided to go on a small hike, Sasha was probably the first to volunteer. He loved such things: militaristic clothing style, endurance, all kinds of military "toys". Then we went to the forest for a day, and stayed with him and a few other guys for two days, and without any discomfort,"<\/em> \u2013 says Vyacheslav Nagnybida, an activist of the youth club in 2012.<\/p>\n

\n

Almost everyone who knows him has such memories of Alexander Abayev. He never sat still, despised the oppression of someone else's rights and cowardice. In the club of fans of the game "Mafia" he was known by the nickname "Marine", some half-jokingly called him "Soldier". No one doubted that the situation that had developed in the country would do without Alexander. And there is no point in politics here - he simply always knew that for every force there would be a counterforce, and every aggression would meet its peacekeepers.<\/p>\n

And when the world was shaken by the horrific footage from the capital, another piece of bad news arrived. Sasha was shot... The doctors' conclusions were also not encouraging: "Injury to the thumb of the right hand with the threat of amputation, shrapnel wound to the neck, shot through the buttocks. Problems with hemoglobin levels."<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cIt was unusual to see him bedridden,\u201d says Olga Nikitina, head of the youth club of the Hesed Besht Youth Foundation. \u201cHis arm was wrapped in bandages, a scar on his neck\u2026 But there was an unchanging smile on his lips. It was the smile of a winner and a hero.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

\n

The Khmelnytskyi Charitable Foundation \u201cHesed Besht\u201d responded immediately. Necessary items and clothing were collected. All employees additionally raised funds for treatment among their own people, because everyone knew Oleksandr very well and sincerely wanted to help him. In addition to the Foundation, all caring Khmelnytskyi residents who knew about the wounded also helped him and the other victims. Sashko himself told the following about the causes of his injuries:<\/p>\n

\u00a0"After the dispersal on the night of the thirtieth (November), every self-respecting man had to get up and leave. I got up and left. Not for the opposition, but apolitical, not for integration into the European Union or the Customs Union, I was not much concerned about this politics. What worried me was that children were beaten. How, why and for what, what happened on Bankova Street, who was the provocateur, were there provocations, what were the clashes... Children were beaten. Women were beaten, young girls and boys were beaten. This is not right. This is impossible."<\/em><\/p>\n

When the "hot" events were replaced by relative calm, politicians took up the matter, trying to carry out their specific actions. It was tiring, so Sashko allowed himself to return home for a few days. But always at such moments, according to the victim, something happened again in the capital and he returned "to the ranks" again.<\/p>\n

\n

"After the eighteenth (February), after the first death, the civil war began for me. There was no going back. We provided assistance to the wounded, accompanied the medics. On the front line, when they were pushing back... I can't say "special forces fighters", because they were not "in uniform", without identification marks... The medics were called, but there was no one to cover them. I went to the front line either to pull the wounded away, or to help the medics leave. And when I reached the wounded - then (a bullet) flew at me too."<\/em><\/p>\n

Sashko regrets that his friends were left there in Kyiv without his help. But he hopes to recover and join the hundreds again to protect the peace. When asked if it wasn\u2019t scary, he replied: \u201cIt\u2019s scary now, when you know how many victims there were, and I\u2019m scared that they won\u2019t all be in vain.\u201d At the same time, Oleksandr firmly said that if the people don\u2019t handle the situation and allow themselves to be humiliated again, then he, as the victim, will only think about emigrating.<\/p>\n

\n

Khmelnytskyi Charitable Foundation \u201cHesed Besht\u201d kept the situation with Oleksandr under control. However, several organizations were simultaneously dealing with the issue of the wounded, and several countries offered to treat him, including Poland and Slovakia. Due to the threat of amputation, Sashko hurriedly left for treatment abroad. Now, as a whole community, we are waiting for his recovery and return.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
