<\/p>\nOn November 16, the whole world celebrated the International Day of Tolerance. According to the results of the 2001 population census, representatives of 90 nationalities and nationalities live in Khmelnytskyi. Therefore, we must be able to live in the world of different people. Tolerance is a social norm, it is a mandatory condition for the preservation of peace, for the survival of society.<\/p>\n

Throughout the past week, in order to mark this day, various events were held at the "Hesed Besht" HBF: excursion trips to Medzhibozh, Samchiki, Satanov, an interesting concert with the participation of the city's national communities, talks about tolerance.<\/p>\n

In particular, on November 16, Halyna Skrypnyk, manager of public relations of the Hesed Besht CBF, gave a talk about tolerance for the members of the Dobrota Foundation for the disabled in the city, as well as a tour of tragic places for the Jewish people. This event took place not only as part of the "Tolerance" program, but also as part of the city's "Love of Life" program.<\/p>\n
The first point is a monument to the victims of the Jewish pogrom of 1919 on St. Tolstoy The participants of the excursion learned a lot about this event, because most of them thought that the holocaust during the Great Patriotic War was the most terrible page in the history of the Jewish people. Alas, Jewish history is littered with bloody pogroms. And the massacre of February 15-16, 1919 is only one fragment. But how terrible! After all, more than 1,600 civilians of Proskurov died for no fault of their own in these two days.<\/p>\n
...February 15, 1919. Saturday Shabbat After the holiday prayer, the Jews went home in a good mood. After the Shabbat meal, they traditionally lay down to rest. And they woke up from the terrible roar of trouble, from the knocking on the door of the angel of death. The Cossacks of Ivan Semesenko's Zaporozhian Cossack Brigade and the Haydamaks of the Third Haydamat Regiment entered Jewish homes in groups of 5-15 and slaughtered everyone in a row.<\/p>\n
The pogrom continued in Felshtyn, surrounding villages and remote hamlets. The monument to the pogrom victims is the only one in Ukraine, although there were many pogroms in other regions of the country. By the way, our monument was also under threat of destruction, but the Jewish community of the city, led by Igor Aleksandrovich Ratushny, did not allow it to be demolished and replaced with a memorial sign. On the contrary, soon the monument was restored and became better than before.<\/p>\n
Excursionists also visited the memorial to the victims of the Holocaust. In that place (in the Leznev Ravine) 8,200 Jews were killed, including 800 people from Nikolaev and 1,172 from Black Island. A total of 16,000 Jews were exterminated in Proskurovo during the war, and they rest in three mass graves. A terrible fate, because the Germans and their accomplices did not spare even babies.<\/p>\n
The mass destruction of innocent people is an indelible stain of shame on the pages of history. It is believed that humanity has drawn the right conclusions from these tragedies and that this will never happen again.<\/p>\n
