War\u2026 It seems that there was no person on our lands who she did not touch with her black wing. Yevheniy Chazov from Ternopil also remembers her, although he was not even five years old at the beginning of the war. Zhenya was born in Ovruch, Zhytomyr region. He had wonderful loving parents, and the boy would have had a happy childhood, if not for the hardships of the war. She made him an orphan for a while, with his parents still alive\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n

Zhenya's father was a military man \u2013 a career officer, a colonel, but in 1939 he was repressed and demoted to captain. And in 1941 he was called up to the front. His mother \u2013 Prager Polina Moiseyevna \u2013 was a medical worker. In the same 1939, she went to war with the White Finns, where she was wounded and became disabled.<\/strong><\/p>\n

However, even with a serious wound, the woman sought to be useful to her homeland. With the outbreak of the war, she served in a medical train, with whose personnel, wounded soldiers and two children she was evacuated to the Urals. There she worked in an evacuation hospital, devoting herself to work day and night, without sleep or rest. Zhenya became seriously ill, the result of the illness was partial deafness. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Zhenya's father returned from the war with the rank of lieutenant colonel and was assigned to the Ternopil regional military registration and enlistment office, where the Chazov family moved. Over time, the head of the family became an Honorary Citizen of Ternopil. Mom was awarded the "Excellent Health Worker of Ukraine" badge for her many years of work as an operating nurse. Zhenya, growing up in such a heroic family, looked up to his worthy parents. In 1958, he graduated from the Philological Faculty of the Rivne Pedagogical Institute and went to Uzbekistan on a Komsomol ticket. After returning, Yevgeny Petrovich Chazov worked in schools and vocational schools in Ternopil, was a literature teacher and head teacher.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Yevgeny Petrovich is a loving husband and father. He and his wife Lyudmila Ivanovna named their son Peter in honor of their heroic grandfather. <\/strong><\/p>\n

It must be said that participation in the life of the Jewish community of Ternopil is a particularly interesting page in the life of the Chazov family. \u201cSince 2000, this has been my second family,\u201d says Yevhen Petrovych. \u201cHesed employees have given us many pleasant moments, they take care of us every day. They helped me buy a hearing aid, because with age my deafness turned from partial to complete, they helped me to have an operation to replace the lens of my eye, and they issued a bank card that allows me to pay for medicines and food. Recently, we had cosmetic repairs done in our apartment and the old gas stove was replaced with a new one. My family members are very grateful for such comprehensive and significant support.\u201d <\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n

Poetry is Yevheniy Petrovych's long-standing love. He dedicated his first poem to his mother back in 1958. After that, he often wrote dedications to his family, acquaintances, and friends. He also wrote many poems for the anniversaries of the Ternopil branch of the Hesed Besht Foundation.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Chazov's poems on war themes are especially poignant. Anyone who has seen bombs falling from the sky and grenades exploding, entire streets burning in fires, people dying, and Jews being led in columns to execution, has forever etched an unhealable pain in their hearts. And \u2013 memory\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n

DON'T FORGET, PEOPLE OF PEACE...<\/strong><\/p>\n

Bombs flew from airplanes,<\/strong><\/p>\n

Sticking vertically into the ground.<\/strong><\/p>\n

And here are their ominous raids<\/strong><\/p>\n

Death was lying down. Horizontally\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

War is everywhere: it is in the trenches,<\/strong><\/p>\n

In the water of rivers, sea depths,<\/strong><\/p>\n

And under the ruins and in the ruins -<\/strong><\/p>\n

The ruler of half-Europe.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Shot bullets indiscriminately:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Are you a Ukrainian or a Jew...<\/strong><\/p>\n

A fascist in the role of a prosecutor<\/strong><\/p>\n

You are of a lower race - a slave, a plebeian. <\/strong><\/p>\n

A Jew's life is given by a person:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Eyes, curls, nose are different.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Such wolfish malice towards him -<\/strong><\/p>\n

No one else has experienced it.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In concentration camps and hundreds of ghettos<\/strong><\/p>\n

They were chased by millions.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Beaten, hungry, undressed...<\/strong><\/p>\n
