Today, a delegation of foreigners who are not indifferent to the fate of the Jewish people in the Halut visited the Khmelnytskyi region. Among them were immigrants from Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium and other countries of Western Europe. The purpose of the visit was to get acquainted with our community and the work of the Hesed Besht Jewish Community Foundation. For the first time in the history of our organization, simultaneous translation was conducted in three languages: Spanish, English and German.
Getting to know our people began with home visits. Then the guests visited the construction site of the Rehabilitation and Regional Development Center. They were impressed by the pace of construction, its future functionality, and the enthusiasm with which community members are rebuilding their dream, brick by brick.
People did not come to the office of the Khmelnytskyi Charitable Foundation "Hesed Besht" empty-handed. They brought food packages for low-income clients, which they themselves helped to unload as volunteers. It was not an easy task, but working together with the Foundation's employees got to know the guests better than, for example, a seminar. The foreigners were impressed by the volume of work of the "Hesed" employees and wished them encouragement and success in their noble cause.
The tour of the Community Center "Thia" was personally conducted by the Director of the Hesed Besht Charitable Foundation Igor Ratushny. Here, the guests were shown all the museum rooms and developmental programs. Special attention was paid to the Holocaust Memorial Museum, where a touching event took place. One of the delegates, on behalf of the descendants of the entire German people and followers of the fascist alliance, asked for forgiveness from the Jewish people for the crimes committed by their predecessors.
The guests and clients of the Foundation were amazed. One elderly woman, who receives social food here, spoke to the Spanish-speaking delegates in their language, which impressed the OC staff. Another elderly man, Arkady Vainer, gathered a large group of visitors around him, telling about the horrors of war that he had to endure. And the participants of the eco-project and volunteers gave the guests homemade preserves and knitted socks as a souvenir.
The foreigners continued their journey, leaving behind not only pleasant memories, but also memorable souvenirs from our community. These people will always remember that we are always glad to meet them.
