On the eve of International Women's Day, an unconventional festive event was held at the Thiya Community Center. Women volunteers of the Foundation and the Community, clients and friends (or, more precisely, girlfriends) of our organization were invited to participate in it. The unconventional event was precisely in the way it congratulated women on the holiday of spring, beauty and tenderness. There were no gifts given to the participants. That is, they were not there at the beginning, but they did appear at the end.
The technology of weaving scarves by hand is no longer new to our organization, but little known among clients. Interest in it was “fueled” by the visit of participants of the “Rainbow of Possibilities” project from the “Post-Metzuda” program, which unites graduates of all years of this youth and popular Jewish leadership seminar. A year ago, participants of the “Rainbow of Possibilities” organized master classes at the “Thia” Community Center and the Community Center of the city of Kamianets-Podilskyi, but not everyone who wanted to took part in them. Adopting the best practices of Jewish informal education, we also mastered this technique. And last Hanukkah, weaving scarves was even included in the program of a volunteer marathon by small communities of the Khmelnytskyi region.
The event participants gathered in the conference room. Each of them was presented with a future gift in a semi-finished form: two skeins of warm and soft threads of different colors, which were to become a beautiful and practical accessory. Experienced "curators" helped the women understand the intricacies of weaving, so in a fairly short time the outlines of scarves began to emerge from the shapeless skeins of threads.
A gift made with your own hands and with the help of friends is always more pleasant. Therefore, all participants of the event were satisfied with the event. And musical greetings from the leader of the Musical Retro-Collective “Hesedband” Anatoly Muzyka added a good spring mood and joy to all present.
