Our "gray-haired ladies and gentlemen" (you've already guessed that we're talking about the volunteer dance group of the Hesed Besht Foundation "Golden Years") presented two of their dances to the audience at the festival of national cultures "Satanivfest". I must say that it was a real festival, not just a village concert. Its level was quite high, throughout the day the performers delighted the participants with a variety of beautiful and skillful songs, dances, and compositions. So we were very pleased that the audience also warmly welcomed the Hesed dancers, rewarded them with thunderous applause and shouts of "bravo!" for the Jewish freyleks and the Polish krakovjak.
The festival organizers presented to the audience (and there were no less than 400 people, maybe more) the national way of life and culture of the inhabitants of old Sataniv - Jews, Ukrainians, Poles and Roma. And this part of the festival can be rightly called a visual lesson in the history of their native village. We were especially interested in the presentation of Jewish culture (it is known that Sataniv was a Jewish town before World War II). Well, we must admit: the teachers and students of the Sataniv School managed to show a very real picture of the life of an ordinary Jewish family, where the father is a tailor, sews a suit on a sewing machine, and when the customer comes, he takes measurements from it, his young son reads the Torah, the mother does the housework, and the little daughters pluck feathers for pillows. They also prepared a complex, masterful Jewish dance, an interesting, lengthy story about the life of the Jewish community of old Satanov, a tent with objects of Jewish life and working tools of small artisans, and treated them to dishes of national cuisine: forshmak, gefilte fish, bean and carrot tsimes, strudels, baked chicken, etc.
The cold day of October 6 in Satanov did not seem so cold, because its atmosphere was created not so much by the heavens as by an elevated mood, a sea of smiles, bursts of applause, and most importantly - an incendiary and warming performance from stage lovers. It is amazing what talented people live in the territory of the Satanov village council, which unites 11 settlements. And they do not just live, but live an interesting, full-blooded life, in addition to work they go to rehearsals, sing, dance, have fun and have something to show from the high stage. Don't the village head of Satanov, Albert Ivanovich Sobkov, and his team, who create all the conditions for the cultural self-realization of the community, deserve respect? Bravo!
It would not be superfluous to add that amateur artists from neighboring territorial communities also gathered at the festival, and students of the Kamianets-Podilskyi College of Culture and Art performed wonderfully and professionally. These are our future stars, we will see and hear them more than once. Ukraine is very rich in talents.
