On March 2, the world celebrates the birthday of the famous Jewish writer, our countryman Solomon Naumovich (Noakhovich) Rabinovich. Everyone knows this man under the pseudonym Sholem Aleichem. This year, the Khmelnytsky Regional Scientific Library named after M. Ostrovsky and the Khmelnytskyi Cultural Foundation “Hesed Besht” held a joint event dedicated to the life and work of the writer. The audience was senior students of the Khmelnytskyi City College named after V. Kozubnyak (former school No. 16).
The event was opened by the head of the library reading room, Halyna Stanislavivna Lisohor. She spoke about Shalom Aleichem, his contribution to world literature, talent and achievements. Then the floor was given to the manager of the Khmelnytskyi Charitable Foundation "Hesed Besht" Halyna Atamanchuk, who touched on the writer's life path in her story. The students were also shown a video with Shalom Aleichem's granddaughter, writer Bela Kaufman. The woman spoke about her grandfather, whom she even remembered, about his cheerful and easygoing nature.
To better understand the artist's work, we decided on an unconventional move. Halyna Atamanchuk and the head of the vocal studio Anatoliy Muzyka performed a song with a guitar that reflects Jewish flavor (you can listen to the recording at the end of the article).
The event was also attended by the director of the Golos theater, Serhiy Mykolayovych Troyanovsky. He read an excerpt from Shalom Aleichem's work to the students. Thus, during the hour-long event, he revealed the personality of Shalom Aleichem to its participants from all sides, creating an extraordinary atmosphere.
