107 years ago, our community suffered a terrible tragedy—a pogrom that, in its cruelty and scale, became a chilling testimony to human inhumanity.
This event has been engraved in historical memory as the “Proskuriv Bloodbath,” thanks to the accounts of eyewitnesses of that time.
Every year, our conscious community, together with like-minded people, honors the memory of the victims of this tragedy—1,600 peaceful residents of the Jewish community of Proskuriv—and remembers the fate of 960 children who lost their parents. In just three hours of the sacred Sabbath, the community suffered irreversible losses: not only priceless human lives, but also faith in justice and humanity.
Today, a commemorative rally-performance was held at the monument to the victims of the Proskuriv pogrom, with the aim of using art and historical references to instill an understanding of “the other” in every soul.

During the ceremony, prayers, psalms, and sincere pleas to heaven were heard, calling for such tragedies, which defile morality, to NEVER be allowed to happen again.
Well-known community leaders Leonid Pidlisny and Semen Milman, who have been working for years to convey the truth about these bloody events, addressed the community. They emphasized that anti-Semitism, xenophobia, and hatred have no place in a conscious and just modern world. The Chief Rabbi of Khmelnytskyi, Yosyp Teitelbaum, addressed those present with prayers for the souls of the dead and for peace on Ukrainian soil. At the end of the event, everyone laid stones at the memorial and lit candles, seeking to preserve the memory of those terrible events and pass it on to future generations so that the mistakes of history would never be repeated.
