The “Holocaust Lesson” on January 18 was unusual in that it was not held for students, as usual, but for people who care about students and their development. On this day, teachers-organizers of schools in the city of Khmelnytsky visited the Holocaust Memorial Museum as part of a seminar session of the Department of Education and Science of the Khmelnytsky City Council. The meeting took place at the request of Olga Valkova and became a good indicator of the united work of state and non-state structures in the direction of education. In total, the seminar was visited by thirty-two educators. When asked by the Information Manager of the Hesed Besht Community Foundation, Vyacheslav Nagnybida, whether everyone knew about the existence of this museum, the answer was almost unanimously affirmative; most educators also confirmed that during the existence of the Community Center, groups of students from their schools came here.
Usually, the Holocaust Memorial Museum deals with students. Today's group was larger and more attentive, because the image of our institution and further cooperation depend on what is heard in the Museum. The teachers highly appreciated the level of exposition and the material presented, both in terms of depth and the method of transmission. Of course, adults were spoken to differently than students: more brutal facts, more in-depth about the root causes of the Holocaust. However, the general concept did not change and during one lesson the educators went through a real "Holocaust Lesson."
We hope that this seminar will not pass without a trace and will further contribute to the involvement of the younger generation in studying the tragedy of our former compatriots. The meeting contributed to an increase in requests for registration of groups of students for Holocaust lessons from January 22 to 26, which is timed to coincide with the International Holocaust Remembrance Day.
