Although World War II recedes further and further, its bloody crimes will never be erased from our memory. On the anniversary date On January 27, all progressive humanity on the planet celebrates International Holocaust Remembrance Day. And we began honoring the bright memory of the victims a month ago. Almost every day, schoolchildren, university students, and the city's caring public come to our Holocaust Memorial Museum for excursions.
As part of the celebration of the commemorative date, we took part in a joint event of the State Archives of Khmelnytskyi Region and department of information activities, culture, nationalities and religions. It was held in cinemas WoodMall CinemaThe event was attended and delivered by the Deputy Head of the Regional State Administration, Volodymyr Yuryev, heads of structural divisions of the Regional State Administration, heads of territorial central executive bodies, deputies of the Regional Council, public organizations, heads of student councils of the Khmelnytskyi Humanitarian and Pedagogical Academy, Khmelnytskyi University of Management and Law named after Leonid Yuzkov), and the media. During the event, a book and documentary exhibition of the archive “The Holocaust in Ukraine: Khmelnytskyi Oblast” was presented. The participants of the event also watched the film “Schindler’s List” directed by Steven Spielberg. We thank the organizers for an interesting and informative evening.
The online conversation with the participants of the project "Let's connect!" also concerned the Holocaust in Podillia. We told people about the terrible crimes committed by people against people in our lands, and at the end of the program, the listeners told what they remembered about the times of the Holocaust, remembered their relatives who died in that terrible apocalypse, and indicated the burial places of their loved ones.
The culmination of the events was a rally held near the memorial plaque standing on the site of the former Proskurov ghetto. The rally was quite crowded - in days of mourning, Jews rally together. The Kodesh was sung, recorded by artists of the Vienna Opera, there were interesting performances, the memorial prayer "Kaddish", lighting and laying down of lamps, numerous interviews with numerous television groups. Then some of the participants of the rally visited the Holocaust Memorial to honor one of the largest cemeteries in the region with sincere prayer and indescribable sorrow. The bodies of 8,200 innocently murdered residents of Proskurov rest there.
According to Hitler's plan, the Jewish people were to be completely exterminated. Fortunately, the enemies did not and will not succeed in killing the national identity of the Jews. Despite all the harrowing and tragic events, they rose from the ashes, withstood everything, survived. The saved have a high mission - to continue their lineage, preserve national traditions and convey the historical truth of the wartime, our unceasing pain to new generations. The youth of today will be left behind us, they will be the bearers of the true memory of the tragedy of the Holocaust. And we must do everything to ensure that they learn and assimilate the lessons of the Holocaust and pass on the acquired knowledge to their descendants. This is necessary so that such tragedies never happen again, with any people.
