On March 12, the Jewish community of the Khmelnytskyi region gathered together in a restaurant to celebrate the most joyful holiday of the Jewish calendar – Purim! In addition to the people of Khmelnytskyi, the organizers of the holiday from the Hesed Besht Jewish Community Foundation gathered representatives from Derazhnya, Gorodok and Letychiv and prepared an incredibly cheerful and bright program. What happened at the holiday itself during the Purimshpil was not expected by anyone…
And what happened was that Ahasuerus was rollerblading and playing hockey! A truly unconventional and professional Purim play by a volunteer theater group impressed and pleasantly surprised the guests. Bright costumes, an interesting plot in a modern style, musical accompaniment and the emotional play of the actors - this is exactly what kept the attention of everyone who came to the holiday for half an hour. After the performance, people could take pictures with the actors, for whom, literally, a queue formed.
Zhenya Kuzmich, a new star of our community, delighted the audience with a song about the holiday. This was the first time he had been on stage, but with such talent, it certainly wouldn’t be the last. Anatoliy Muzyka, Kira Nanba, and Alla Kuligina, already well-known and respected performers in the community, presented their work to the guests. Serhiy Troyanovsky, head of the Golos studio, presented the audience with an excerpt from a work dedicated to Purim. In short, there were many opportunities to have fun and reflect on history and traditions.
Carnival masks created a special mood for those present. They were made by volunteers from the Community and the Hesed Besht Foundation for absolutely everyone present, regardless of age. The masks gave the holiday a unique attribute of unity, which is inherent in the Jewish people.
Children played a special role in the event. It is not often that you get the chance to dress up in a carnival costume, and Purim is an extremely appropriate time for this. The children walked through the carnival parade to the applause of adults and received sweet Shalach Mones from the Khmelnytskyi Charitable Foundation “Hesed Besht” from the hands of presenter Lyudmila Shvartsman.
Thus, the age-old holiday, which tells of the evil fate that the Jewish people avoided thanks to the wisdom of Mordecai and the efforts of the beautiful Esther, passed according to tradition - cheerfully and noisily. We fulfilled the commandment of the holiday and joined the entire great nation that remembers its heroes and criminals.
