Event for library workers

“Open Door Days” of the Community Center “Thia” for teams of partner organizations are traditional events that are held to increase experience and deepen friendly ties with colleagues. This helps to better understand our work, to jointly plan further steps in our activities. This time, we were visited by teams of the Khmelnytskyi Regional Scientific Library named after M. Ostrovsky and the Khmelnytskyi Regional Library for Youth.

Letter from the reader

Helmet, dear friend! My name is Lina Shkyler. I am 75 years old. I was born and raised in Kharkov, but I have been living in the USA for 23 years. More than 3 years ago, while browsing the Internet in search of information that interested me, I accidentally came across the site "Krasylov Evreisky" that interested and surprised me. The fact is that my parents come from these [...]

Melodies of old Proskurov

During December 6-8, a rather unusual seminar for all aspiring musicians was held in Khmelnytskyi, which touched on the topic of the musical Jewish heritage of our city. Few people know that the Proskuriv klezmer - Jewish musicians - left behind a unique mark on the musical heritage, which is extremely valuable for ethnographers and, in fact, musicians.

The autumn “Keitan” has begun!

The Thiya Community Center has started an autumn camp as part of the Keitana holiday program for school-age children. At a time when schools have released their students for vacation, employees of the Hesed Besht charitable foundation are getting down to business so that children spend their time not only relaxing, but also with benefit. The camp gives them this opportunity: here are fun, active […]

"What do I know about breast cancer and what am I doing against it?"

October is a month of active actions for the prevention of breast cancer. That is why in the city of Khmelnytskyi, employees of the regional representative office implemented an event for students of the Khmelnytskyi Basic Medical College according to methodological developments provided by the leadership of the VZHEO “Project Kesher”. The target audience was chosen for a reason: the vast majority of the contingent of this educational institution are girls who in the future will become not only nurses and […]

We help those interested

The Community Center "Thia" was visited by students of Khmelnytskyi Specialized Secondary School of I-III Degrees No. 6 with a scientific supervisor and a large number of questions. The school, headed by director Andriy Mykolayovych Popyk, has repeatedly participated in the actions of the Hesed Besht Jewish Children's Foundation or conducted joint educational projects with us regarding Jewish life and history. So today both sides were happy about the new […]

Hag Sukkot Sameach!

In 5776, the central Sukkah in the city of Khmelnytskyi was installed on the territory of the “Thia” Community Center. Both employees of the Jewish organization and community members, volunteers and artists worked on its construction. Together, they managed to build a beautiful traditional kuren and decorate it in accordance with the natural resources of Israel and the territorial features of Ukraine. Under the roof of the sukkah, through which, as is customary, […]

Big holiday game

Khmelnytskyi City Day will be remembered for its colorful events, noisy actions and mass festivities, but for many of our clients another event will remain in their memory. The festive open-air chess game was long-awaited, intense and interesting, because such an event had never been held in our city before. At the same time, sixty warring armies converged in battles on chessboards! But the most interesting thing was that […]

Visiting Medzhyborz

On September 22, 1942, the small town of Medzhibizh was shaken by unheard-of cruelty. On that day, local police and SS units took the entire Jewish population out of the settlement. These were men, women, children and the elderly, who were no longer destined to return to their homes. And after the anti-Jewish campaign, Medzhibizh, once a powerful Jewish center, joined the list of “Juden Frei” […]

16 years of the Hesed Besht Children's Charity Foundation

This year, the number "16" is extremely relevant for the Khmelnytskyi Charitable Foundation "Hesed Besht" - September 16 marks the 16th anniversary of the registration of the charitable organization, which the team considers the foundation's birthday. This year's holiday is jokingly called "coming of age" by analogy with the arrival of a responsible age for citizens of our country.

The best gift for the Foundation's 16th anniversary!

On September 16, 2015, the grand opening of the Community Center in the city of Kamianets-Podilskyi took place. This event became a landmark not only for the people of Kamianets-Podilskyi, but also for all members of the Jewish community, as it is an indicator of the dynamic development of Jewish life in our region. The Community Center will significantly expand the range and improve the quality of services provided by the Foundation's representative office, as it is equipped in accordance with the needs […]

Proskurov's former face

To mark the 16th anniversary of the creation of the regional charitable foundation “Hesed Besht”, the city’s history museum is hosting a photo exhibition by Leonid Zapadenko “Where to get a little happiness…”. The author is an amateur photographer and researcher. Working as a volunteer for “Hesed Besht” since 2013, Leonid Petrovych has found many photos — evidence that Proskuriv used to be a small Jewish shtetl, because most of its residents are Jews. Collecting photos of relatives, […]
